The operating wavelength at 12.4 GHz is λ = c/ f =( 3 × 108)/(12.4 × 109 ) = 2.42 cm. D= 18 inches= 18x0.0254=0.457m The far-field distance is Rff = 2D2 / λ = 2(0.457)2 / 0.0242 = 17.3 m.
